 Authorities Wednesday publicly recognized a 43-year-old man who was fatally shot by an unidentified assailant over the Presidents Day weekend whereas strolling with a gaggle on an East Village sidewalk.

Patrol officers responding to experiences of gunfire shortly after 3 p.m. Sunday discovered Ali Jabbar of San Diego mortally wounded in entrance of an house constructing within the 600 block of sixteenth Road, simply west of Interstate 5 and north of Market Road, in accordance with police.

Paramedics took Jabbar to a hospital, the place he was pronounced lifeless, Lt. Jud Campbell stated.

Investigators have decided that the shooter approached the sufferer on the roadside and shot him repeatedly, then ran to a close-by grey or silver car and drove off. Jabbar’s companions have been unhurt.

“It does seem the (shooter) deliberately focused the sufferer and never the folks round him,” Campbell stated.

Police have launched no detailed description of the killer.
