A 30-year-old man was arrested Wednesday for allegedly capturing a San Diego Police Division officer final week throughout a pursuit in a Chollas Creek-area neighborhood.

J.C. Blake Sartor of San Diego was taken into custody at about 12:30 p.m. within the 8700 block of Spectrum Heart Boulevard in Kearny Mesa, SDPD Chief David Nisleit informed information crews throughout a mid-afternoon briefing.

Sartor is predicted to face a cost of tried homicide of a police officer.

Nisleit credited the arrest to a “phenomenal” department-wide effort.

“I’ll say this — this suspect’s seize is the results of lots of nice investigative police work and tenacity,” the police chief informed reporters through the information convention at downtown police headquarters. “As I informed you final week, we’d not cease working this case. We labored this case across the clock.”

The occasions that led to the capturing started shortly after 11 a.m. Thursday, when the officer, whose identify has not been made public, noticed a stolen truck being pushed on College Avenue close to 54th Road and began following it in his cruiser, in accordance with police.

A short while later, the suspected auto thief pulled over, received out of the car and ran off, prompting a foot chase.

Within the 5200 block of Wightman Avenue, the fleeing man turned and fired on the officer, discharging a number of rounds and wounding the patrolman in the proper arm, police stated. The shooter then disappeared into the neighborhood.
