The County of San Diego has introduced that it plans to make use of Uber Eats to ship meals to folks being housed by its lodging program after January’s unprecedented storm-related flooding.

Eligible residents will obtain a digital voucher to buy meals via Uber Eats for themselves and their households, the county stated.

Every family will obtain a digital voucher through e mail or textual content.

The quantity can be decided by a number of components, such because the variety of folks within the family, whether or not the lodge at present housing them is offering meals, and whether or not contributors are receiving meals from different organizations.

Earlier this month, the county Board of Supervisors voted to increase the Emergency Non permanent Lodging Program, which first began Feb. 10 and has supplied lodging to nearly 900 households displaced by flooding, officers stated.

In late January, supervisors authorized spending $10 million to help restoration efforts after storm-related flooding broken houses in areas resembling Encanto, Mountain View, Southcrest, and Spring Valley.

Based on the county, the voucher can be legitimate for seven days and can’t be used to buy alcohol or tobacco merchandise.
