A 44-year-old man was behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of murder, drunk driving and different costs stemming from a weekend crash that killed one other motorist and significantly injured her passenger on Interstate 5 in Carlsbad.

Andrew David Shaw of Escondido was allegedly heading south shortly earlier than 10 p.m. Sunday when his Ford Raptor pickup truck rear-ended a Nissan Altima sedan close to Cannon Street, based on the California Freeway Patrol.

The collision left a 31-year-old passenger within the automobile and its 53-year-old driver severely injured, CHP public-affairs Officer Hunter Gerber stated. Paramedics took each girls to a trauma heart, the place the driving force was pronounced lifeless. Her title was withheld pending household notification.

An ambulance crew took Shaw to a hospital for therapy of minor accidents.
