A person working alongside the fitting shoulder of  southbound Interstate 5 in downtown San Diego was struck and killed Tuesday, the California Freeway Patrol reported.

The collision occurred at 5 a.m. simply north of Imperial Avenue, in response to the CHP incident log.

The male driver of a compact sedan that struck the sufferer stopped and cooperated with the CHP. He was shaken by the collision however unhurt.

A Sigalert was issued as visitors was delivered to a cease. One lane was reopened at 5:20 a.m.
