A pedestrian was significantly injured in Hillcrest when he was struck by a sedan pushed by a person who was subsequently arrested on suspicion of felony hit and run and driving below the affect, police mentioned Monday.
A 35-year-old man was driving his silver 2011 Mercedes-Benz E350 westbound within the 1000 block of College Avenue at 8:41 p.m. Sunday as a 33- year-old man was strolling westbound straddling the No. 1 and No. 2 lanes within the 1000 block of College Avenue, mentioned Officer John Buttle of the San Diego Police Division. The Mercedes-Benz driver struck the pedestrian within the roadway.
The motive force pulled over and exited his automobile, the officer mentioned. Two witnesses noticed the person run away however he later returned. The witnesses noticed him and advised him to remain, however he ran away once more and the witnesses chased after him and walked him again to the scene.
The pedestrian was taken to a hospital with a cranium fracture and mind bleed, Buttle mentioned.
An SDPD Site visitors Investigation Unit responded to the scene and have been investigating the collision.
