The North County Transit District and Caltrans Sunday are commemorating Rosa Parks’ birthday by taking part within the nationwide Transit Fairness Day in San Diego.
All NCTD modes of transportation together with Coaster, Breeze, Sprinter, Flex and Raise can be fare-free Sunday, in response to NCTD officers.
“In honor of Rosa Parks’ birthday, we commemorate her brave act of resistance that helped pave the way in which for a safer, extra equitable and accessible transportation system,” Caltrans stated.
Parks, who grew to become a civil rights icon due to her refusal to surrender a seat on a public bus to a white rider, could be turning 111 Sunday.
