A motorist died Friday after driving a van at excessive velocity in a Mission Seashore park and crashing right into a tree, San Diego police stated.

The person, 36, was driving his Ford Windstar eastbound on San Diego Place into Mission Level Park when for unknown causes he accelerated to a excessive charge of velocity, drove off the highway and struck the tree.

The car flipped and landed on a parked and unoccupied car. Medics pronounced the driving force useless on the scene.

Police stated it’s unknown if alcohol or medicine have been an element within the wreck. The San Diego police Visitors Division is investigating.
