A person killed on Interstate 5 Saturday evening close to the Grand and Garnet Avenue off-ramp was recognized Monday by the Medical Examiner.
Abraham Jose Mungaray, 33, of Chula Vista, was recognized Monday by the Medical Examiner as the driving force of an SUV that overturned on the foot of the Interstate 5 overpass in Pacific Seaside. His Honda CRV crashed about 10:40 p.m. and he died on the scene, in response to the Medical Examiner.
The Medical Examiner mentioned it was unsure if Mungaray crashed whereas on the exit ramp which briefly parallels the freeway earlier than curving beneath it, or if his car went off the freeway overpass above.
“Witnesses informed dispatchers the CRV crashed by a guardrail and struck a cement help pillar for the freeway bridge,” the Medical Examiner mentioned. “The SUV ended up on its roof going through the mistaken approach, partially resting in opposition to the help column.”
Mungaray was not carrying a seat belt. His place of residence is unknown.
The crash shut down the freeway exit in a single day into early Sunday morning.
