Caltrans completed work early this weekend on a challenge to restore the bridge deck over State Route 163, permitting for regular site visitors stream to return on Interstate 5, officers stated Sunday.

“Caltrans has completed the I-5 bridge restore work over SR-163 forward of schedule. All northbound lanes of I-5 by way of downtown, on-ramps, off-ramps and connectors are open,” the company posted Sunday morning on X. “An enormous because of all concerned within the effort. Drive safely. Have a pleasant weekend.”

The work, which was restricted to the northbound facet of the freeway, had been scheduled to proceed by way of 5 a.m. Monday. Crews had closed all however one lane of northbound I-5 in a single day Friday.

The southbound facet of the freeway was closed just a few weeks in the past for a similar challenge.

“This proactive work will make sure the structural integrity of the I-5 bridge by way of downtown for years to come back,” Caltrans District Director Gustavo Dallarda stated in early September.
