Caltrans completed work early this weekend on a challenge to restore the bridge deck over State Route 163, permitting for regular site visitors stream to return on Interstate 5, officers stated Sunday.
“Caltrans has completed the I-5 bridge restore work over SR-163 forward of schedule. All northbound lanes of I-5 by way of downtown, on-ramps, off-ramps and connectors are open,” the company posted Sunday morning on X. “An enormous because of all concerned within the effort. The work, which was restricted to the northbound facet of the freeway, had been scheduled to proceed by way of 5 a.m. Monday. Crews had closed all however one lane of northbound I-5 in a single day Friday.
The southbound facet of the freeway was closed just a few weeks in the past for a similar challenge.
“This proactive work will make sure the structural integrity of the I-5 bridge by way of downtown for years to come back,” Caltrans District Director Gustavo Dallarda stated in early September.
