Authorities not too long ago seized almost 200 kilos of liquid methamphetamine from the gasoline tank of a tractor trailer in Otay Mesa, officers stated Saturday.

Final month, a 25-year-old man was pulled over by CBP officers whereas making an attempt to enter the Otay Mesa cargo facility, based on U.S. Customs and Border Safety.

Officers flagged him for a second hands-on inspection, throughout which, they observed a substance crystallizing within the gasoline tank. The substance was examined and recognized as liquid meth.

Authorities eliminated the meth and poured it right into a half-dozen five-gallon buckets, with a complete weight of 195 kilos. The estimated road worth was $221,500.

“This uncommon concealment methodology exhibits that drug traffickers will attempt something to get their product throughout our borders,” stated Rosa Hernandez, port director for the Otay Mesa Port of Entry.

The motive force was turned over to Homeland Safety Investigations for additional disposition. No different passengers had been reported in his automobile.
