Kearny Excessive Faculty basketball gamers joined Taft Center Faculty college students Monday to open Serra Mesa’s latest joint-use park with metropolis and faculty district officers.

Positioned on Gramercy Drive in Serra Mesa, the park features a grass playfield, a strolling/working observe, hardcourts for pickleball, tennis and basketball, train gear, new bushes, benches, a ingesting fountain, safe perimeter fencing, safety lighting and a parking zone.

“It’s an entire transformation and our college students and workers are thrilled to have a grass playfield to run, stroll and play,” Taft Center Faculty Principal Hortencia Garcia-Rubio mentioned.

San Diego Unified Faculty District constructed the park with native bond funds from its capital enchancment program, with contributions from town. As soon as the park opens to the general public, town will preserve the sector.

The brand new area at Taft joins 92 different joint-use fields all through the district. San Diego Unified is constructing 10 further joint-use fields and plans to construct 27 extra, in response to a district assertion.
