 A 62-year-old motorist was killed over the weekend in a head-on collision on a rural highway close to San Vicente Reservoir, authorities reported Monday.

The person was headed north in a 2002 Volkswagen sedan on Wildcat Canyon Street in Lakeside shortly earlier than 6:30 p.m. Sunday when an oncoming 2003 Ford pickup truck veered instantly into his path north of Muth Valley Street, in accordance with the California Freeway Patrol.

The ensuing crash despatched the Volkswagen off the east aspect of the roadway and prompted the truck to overturn, CHP public-affairs Officer Jared Grieshaber stated.

The motive force of the Volkswagen died on the scene of the accident. His identify was withheld pending household notification.

Paramedics took the 42-year-old San Diego man who had been driving the Ford to Sharp Memorial Hospital for remedy of great accidents.

Intoxication was not believed to have been an element within the collision, Grieshaber stated.
